Souled Out Restaurant

Here's a scenario for a perfect date, Formula 1 or Man Utd playing a LIVE football match on the big screen, great food and a lovely girlfriend as company. Perfect right? StrippedSteph and I went on such perfect date few Sundays back at Souled Out cafe.

It was right after we watched 'He's Not That into You' at Cineleisure and we decide to go for a nice dinner. Instead of hanging around at The Curve, we decided to go to Souled Out. It had always been one of my favorite place to go, whether it was with my friends from MCA or fellow Sports friends. It had been awhile though since I last went there, not much had changed, the valet parking was still there, the friendly crew was still there but there's a slight change to the menu.

We picked a nice spot at the 1st floor near the TV which was quite nice and placed our orders. These was what we ordered:

StrippedSteph ordered the Lamb Chop - Grilled til perfect doneness (Souled Out's very own word). Served with roasted thyme potatoes, sauteed panache vegetables and rosemary sauce, prepared to medium rare as per her choice.

Myself? I ordered the Australian Tenderloin - Imported juicy prime tenderloin steak, served with sauteed panache vegetables and baked potato. Prepared to medium as per ordered.

And to keep our mouth munching during the exciting Bahrain GP was the Deep Fried Calamari - Crispy and crunchy squid rings in a secret batter recipe but I opted for the mayonnaise as the dip though.

To top off the night, StrippedSteph had a Sprite and I had a pint of Tiger Beer to wash it all down. It was a very well and perfect dinner for the two of us in my humble opinion. And they served my favorite curry mee along with quite a number of local dishes but I decided to go western on this trip.

Porkie Noodle @ Restoran Pomander

It's one of the restaurant I love to visit, unlike it's previous location, this new one mainly is an air-conditioned venue but the same stalls was there from ther previous location. I never really paid attention to the name of the restaurant (as you can read here) until recently.

Each time I go, the usual pork noodle would be ordered along with a small plate of Roast Pork. I feel that the Chicken Rice stall there was mainly there to compliment the Pork Noodle stall as I observed many orders placed with the young chap was mainly for the Char Siew or Roast Pork and/or Roast Chicken and seldom with rice.

For me, I normally order the roast pork. And I go there so frequently that the guy knew how I like my roast pork. And here's a tip if you have flexible timing, if you want to be served fast, go to the restaurant before 12pm. Yup, any time before 12pm, you'll get your pork noodle within 15min after order. After 12pm, expect a waiting line of up to 45min.

Heading there during the peak lunch hour of 1pm, expect the food only arriving after an hour, if you're extremely unlucky, 1 and the half hour later. Yup, you read it right. That's the amount of time they'll take once the orders piles up. The best part is, you actually see and hear people telling the stall owner that they don't mind waiting and will sit diligently in the restaurant for their pork noodle.

Whenever I have craving for Pork Noodle, you can bet that it's the first place you'll find me.
